Contract Management

The company has sufficient equipment to handle more than one project simultaneously, and if required this would be done.  Close contact with clients ensures that works programmes are allocated and completed on time.

Asphalt Surfaces currently supplies and places asphalt for the Local Government and private industry and is catered for quite easily.  The Contracts Supervisor, does Works programming and Asphalt Surfaces maintains the programme by means of a “wall card” system that allocates a detailed card to the programmed date. The system works extremely well and caters for all our clients.

Asphalt Surfaces accepts that there are times when they will be required to deviate from the original Schedule of Works. The “wall card” system means that changes can be easily visualised and, in general, accepted. This flexibility, combined with a positive working relationship with all of their clients, allows Asphalt Surfaces to accommodate minor deviations in schedule.

Asphalt Surfaces maintains a policy to keep clients informed at all times, and in 15 years of supplying and placing asphalt, Asphalt Surfaces is yet to experience any major difficulties in dealing with clients.

Quality Management

Asphalt Surfaces is a Quality Assurance accredited company to AS/NZS 9001/2000 and in addition to this, Asphalt Surfaces is one of the few companies running Shewhart control charts to indicate and control trends. These charts are done for all mix and compaction properties, and basically indicate whether or not the processes are deemed to be under control. From these a customer can view the control and trends of the plant prior to and during his particular project.

Safety and Environment

The company’s safety record is of good standing, and no major accidents have been noted for over 10 years.  A safety policy exists for all personnel.

Asphalt Surfaces Has a sustained environmental record, in particular with the DEP.  We operate within the DEP guidelines and Licence is current.  All waste and bi product is disposed of in accordance with all regulatory guidelines by either recycling back into the process or by disposal to a recycling contractor.  All by-products from the processes are recyclable.

Technical Development

Asphalt Surfaces has extended its design capabilities by using the Australian designed MATTA machine. This is over $100,000 of equipment that enables the measurement of various mix properties including Modulus of elasticity. This has resulted in the development of several option / alternatives to the traditional lightly trafficked and heavy-duty mixes.
